To comprehensively assess the construction effectiveness of the professional degree program in Biology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, accurately analyze the development landscape, and coordinate efforts to enhance the quality and efficiency of the program, on December 26, Vice President Lin Hai, Director of the Graduate School Xu Yongyu, and relevant staff members of the Graduate School visited our college and convened a special research symposium on the construction of the professional degree program in Biology and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Wu Lianjun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the college, Xu Jing, Dean of the college, Zhang Lili, Vice Dean of the college, as well as Han Fushe, academic leader of the degree program, Xu Xiaoyu, program construction director, and Li Ying, Director of the Pharmaceutical Engineering major, attended the symposium.

At the meeting, Dean Xu Jing delivered a special report on behalf of the college, systematically summarizing the construction achievements and practical explorations from six dimensions: overview of degree program construction, training elements, process management, supervisor team, degree conferral system, and future plans. The report highlighted the college's innovatively constructed project-based training model featuring "research question-oriented and interdisciplinary integration", emphasized that high-level faculty serves as the core pillar of talent cultivation, conducted an in-depth analysis of existing shortcomings in light of actual conditions, and clarified the direction for subsequent optimization. Professor Han Fushe expounded on the crucial value of synthetic chemistry from a strategic perspective, proposed building a distinctive organic chemistry discipline chain covering organic synthesis, enzymatic synthesis and other directions, and envisioned the prospects of collaborative development between the chemistry discipline and the degree program. Drawing on his own research experience, Professor Xu Xiaoyu summarized the core commonalities of professional doctoral training as "policy-driven, problem-oriented, and industry-university-research integration", and suggested optimizing interdisciplinary curriculum design and integrating multi-disciplinary resources. Associate Professor Li Ying introduced the achievements in undergraduate program construction, emphasizing that it has provided a solid talent pool for the professional doctoral program, and a seamless "undergraduate-master-doctoral" training system has now taken shape.

University leaders spoke highly of the progress made in the construction of the degree program. Director Xu Yongyu affirmed the Pharmaceutical Engineering major's achievements of "zero-based breakthrough and high-efficiency development", and put forward specific suggestions in terms of strengthening qualification review, establishing a contingent of industry supervisors, optimizing professional directions, and balancing experience learning and characteristic development. Vice President Lin Hai delivered a concluding speech, stressing the supporting role of the chemistry discipline, and affirming the foresight of the college's talent introduction work and the strategic positioning of the biopharmaceutical direction. He put forward four requirements for the development of the degree program: first, benchmark against advanced standards to address shortcomings; second, deepen interdisciplinary integration to build a distinctive disciplinary system; third, highlight training characteristics and improve the industry-university-research integration mechanism; fourth, strictly implement the requirements of audit and evaluation to enhance the quality of talent training and degree conferral.

This research has provided precise diagnosis, built consensus and clarified the direction for the construction of the professional degree program in Biology and Pharmaceutical Sciences of our college. Moving forward, the college will earnestly implement the guiding opinions of university leaders, refine work measures, address development shortcomings, continuously deepen the reform of training models, strengthen interdisciplinary integration, strive to elevate the construction of the degree program to a new level, and inject strong impetus into the university's "Double First-Class" construction and the high-quality development of the regional biopharmaceutical industry.
